Routable 3D map
The whole lift and piste network of St. Moritz – Corviglia is routable in the app: difficulty limits, live lift and piste status, alternative ways to the same place, and a 3D view of the terrain.
Open in SkiAllDayThe verdict
Corviglia is the ski mountain above St. Moritz and Celerina, run by Engadin St. Moritz Mountains AG and reached by the Chantarella funicular, the Signal cable car or the Celerina to Marguns gondola. The operator markets 155 km of pistes; our routing graph measures 65.5 km in one connected network between 1,718 m and 3,021 m, topped by the Piz Nair cable car at 3,057 m. The regional ticket adds Corvatsch and Diavolezza, which share no piste with Corviglia.1234
Goes well for
- Intermediate and advanced skiers who want groomed pistes at altitude: 79 of the operator's 155 km are red, and 43% of the measured piste lies above 2,500 m
- Early risers: the Dorf to Chantarella funicular starts at 07:40 and the Marguns gondola at 07:45, and the White Carpet opens freshly groomed pistes from 07:45
- Skiers who want a sunny mountain: the St. Moritz tourist board calls Corviglia south-facing, and only 20% of the measured piste faces north
Goes badly for
- Anyone counting kilometres: the operator's 155 km is more than twice the 65.5 km we measure, and the 350 km regional figure covers separate areas that no piste joins
- True beginners wanting a long, gentle first week: easy pistes are 42 of the 155 km, and the learner areas are small, separate zones on the mountain
- Skiers who want a fixed day-ticket price: day passes are dynamically priced and cover the whole Upper Engadin, not Corviglia alone
Key facts
Every card opens. The headline number is the answer; underneath is how it was measured and where it came from.
Elevation 1,304m vertical · 1,753–3,057 m
| Village | 1,846 m5 |
|---|---|
| Lowest piste | 1,753 m5 |
| Highest lift-served point | 3,057 m5 |
| Vertical drop | 1,304 m |
1,753 m is the Celerina valley station of the Marguns gondola, the lowest lift station on the operator's 2026/27 panorama map. The Signal cable car starts at St. Moritz Bad (1,772 m, the base figure skiresort.info uses) and the Chantarella funicular at St. Moritz Dorf (1,846 m). The map marks Samedan at 1,706 m at the foot of the valley piste, and our graph's lowest point is 1,718 m. Piz Nair is 3,057 m on the map and on the tourist board's page; the top of the cable car sits a little lower (German Wikipedia gives 3,025 m, and our graph's highest node is 3,021 m).
Pistes 155km 65.5 km measured from the network
- Easy 42km 27%
- Intermediate 79km 51%
- Difficult 34km 22%
Plus 4.8 km of marked ski routes, which are neither pisted nor patrolled to piste standard.
Marketed vs measuredEngadin St. Moritz Mountains markets Corviglia as 35 runs totalling 155 km (42 km blue, 79 km red, 34 km black), and skiresort.info repeats the same split. Our routing graph, built from OpenStreetMap, measures 65.5 km of piste (23.4 km blue, 31.3 km red, 10.9 km black) in one connected network with no other sector, so the graph and the page describe the same ground. The operator's figure is 2.4 times ours, which is a larger gap than centre-line marketing usually explains. The graph contains every lift on the operator's map that we could match by name, except the Celerina to Quartas lift, so missing lifts do not account for it; we cannot say how much of the gap is generous counting by the operator and how much is pistes missing from OpenStreetMap, and we have not tried to reconcile them. Figures that describe the whole Upper Engadin are larger again: the Engadin St. Moritz ticket pool quotes 350 km of slopes, spread over Corviglia, Corvatsch-Furtschellas, Diavolezza-Lagalb and several smaller areas, none of which joins Corviglia by piste. This page uses 155 km as the operator's own figure and 65.5 km for everything computed.
Lifts 24 5 types in the fleet
- Chairlift 12
- Surface lift 5
- Aerial tramway / cable car 2
- Funicular 2
- Gondola 1
The operator's skiing page counts 24 lifts, and skiresort.info counts 23. The operator's company facts list 2 aerial tramways, 3 funiculars, 1 gondola, 12 chairlifts and 5 ski lifts; one of those three funiculars goes to Muottas Muragl, which has no pistes, so the winter ski mountain has 22 by that list. The difference to 24 is probably conveyor carpets, which we could not confirm. By our reading of the operator's map, the funiculars are St. Moritz Dorf to Chantarella and Chantarella to Corviglia, the aerial tramways are St. Moritz Bad to Signal and Corviglia to Piz Nair, and the gondola is Celerina to Marguns. The graph holds the same named lifts as the map apart from the Celerina to Quartas lift.1

Engadin St. Moritz Mountains publishes no fixed adult day price for 2026/27. Day and multi-day passes are sold through the dynamic Snow-Deal model, where the price follows demand and how early you book, and engadin.ch advertises them 'from CHF 55'. With a participating hotel, the Sleep + Ski offer gives a hotel ski pass at a fixed CHF 55.00 per day for the whole stay. These passes cover the whole Upper Engadin region, including Corvatsch and Diavolezza, not only Corviglia. The ENGADINcard 365 annual guest pass was CHF 1,285.00 for adults, CHF 857.00 for youths (13 to 17) and CHF 428.00 for children (6 to 12) in the price list valid since 1 November 2025.

The mountain
These figures come from measuring the resort's actual piste and lift network rather than from its brochure. Measured from the SkiAllDay routing graph on 16 October 2026. Where the resort publishes a figure of its own, that figure is the one shown.
Piste km per lift km
1.27
Piste km opened by each kilometre of lift line. It measures how sparse the lift network is, not how good it is: a high figure means long runs off few lifts, so more skiing between rides but more traversing and more people funnelled onto each lift; a low one means dense lift service, quick laps and short waits, at the cost of repeating the same runs.
measuredLift minutes per ski hour
81 min
Time riding up for every hour spent descending, from the graph’s own traversal times.
measuredLongest continuous descent
9.0 km
The longest run of linked pistes that never rides a lift.
measuredReachable on easy runs only
31%
Share of piste a skier can reach from the base without ever descending something harder than an easy run.
measuredNorth-facing terrain

Guide
Corviglia is a south-facing mountain above St. Moritz, with the Piz Nair cable car at the top and four entrances at the bottom: the Chantarella funicular from St. Moritz Dorf, the Signal cable car from St. Moritz Bad, the Marguns gondola from Celerina and the Suvretta to Randolins chairlift. The pistes between them are mostly groomed, and the high bowls below Piz Nair, Fuorcla Grischa and Glüna sit above 2,800 m.
For beginners
Beginner terrain is organised as separate learner areas rather than one gentle circuit. The St. Moritz tourist board names three: the Salastrains family area in the middle of the mountain (a magic carpet, several lifts and a ski carousel), the Provulèr family area at Celerina (a child-friendly four-seat chairlift and a T-bar) and the Marguns First Step Park (a drag lift beside the Marguns restaurant). The operator adds Mountys Land at Marguns, where a conveyor carpet serves the first turns, and a 105-metre magic carpet behind the quattro BAR at the Corviglia mountain station. Our graph finds 31% of the measured piste reachable on easy pistes only.253
For intermediates
Red pistes are the bulk of the mountain: 79 of the operator's 155 km, against 42 km blue and 34 km black. Measured piste is mostly moderate in gradient, with 42% between 10 and 20% and 37% between 20 and 30%. The median piste lies at 2,439 m, and the longest continuous descent we measure is 9 km with 1,247 m of vertical.13
For experts and freeriders
Black pistes make up 34 km on the operator's count, though only 10.9 km in our measurement. The operator also runs a freeride area that is ungroomed but secured, intended for experienced skiers, and the St. Moritz tourist board points to the western descent from Piz Nair as a route for freeriders. Piste 15 is fenced off for the Speed Check radar, and the 400-metre Ski Run giant slalom course is timed by light gates. Check the avalanche bulletin at slf.ch before leaving the marked pistes.1523
Park and cross courses
The Crowland snowpark near the Corviglia mountain station has a fun slope with kickers, rails and boxes from mid-December to early April, and the tourist board lists an easy beginner park and a blue and a medium line. A 600-metre skicross course sits below the Salastrains mountain station.12
Sun, altitude and snow
The tourist board describes Corviglia as south-facing and sunny, which our measurement supports: 20% of the piste faces north, and 43% of it lies above 2,500 m. The lowest pistes run down to about 1,700 m at Celerina, St. Moritz Bad and toward Samedan, so the valley runs sit lower than most of the mountain. The operator's map says its artificial snow is made from reused water, and it gives no figure for how much of the piste it covers.235
The regional ticket and the other areas
The Engadin St. Moritz ticket pool covers Corviglia, Corvatsch-Furtschellas, Diavolezza-Lagalb, Zuoz, Muottas Muragl and several smaller lifts on one pass, with the annual pass quoting 350 km of slopes. Engadin St. Moritz Mountains AG operates only Corviglia and Muottas Muragl, and our graph finds Corviglia as a single sector with no piste linking it to the others. Reaching Corvatsch or Diavolezza means a bus or the Rhaetian Railway.463
| Skier | Verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Strong intermediate or advanced | excellent | Long groomed pistes at 2,400 to 3,000 m, with 43% of the measured piste above 2,500 m.3 |
| Improving intermediate | good | Red pistes dominate at 79 of 155 km, mostly moderate gradients, with blue pistes on most of the lower mountain.13 |
| Expert on-piste | good | 34 km of black pistes by the operator's count and 10.9 km by our measurement, plus a race-timed giant slalom course and a radar speed piste.153 |
| Freestyle and snowboard park | good | Crowland snowpark from mid-December with a beginner line, a blue line and a medium line, plus a public skicross course.12 |
| Families with children | good | Mountys Land at Marguns, Provulèr family area at Celerina and the Salastrains family zone, with child-protected chairlifts.52 |
| Complete beginner | fair | Small learner areas at Salastrains, Provulèr and Marguns exist, but they are separate zones, and only 31% of the measured piste is reachable on easy runs.23 |
| Freerider | fair | One ungroomed but secured freeride area and the western descent from Piz Nair, so the off-piste on offer is limited and organised.52 |
| Skiers chasing a large connected network | poor | One connected area of 65.5 km measured; the other Engadin areas on the same ticket need a bus or train.34 |
By car
The operator gives road distances to St. Moritz of 200 km and 3 hours from Zurich, 175 km and 3 hours from Milan, 300 km and 4 hours from Munich, and 250 km and 4 hours from Basel. Its office is in St. Moritz Bad next to the Signalbahn valley station, with parking at Via San Gian 26 a few minutes' walk away.
By train
The operator recommends the train: the Rhaetian Railway from Chur to the Engadin, or from Landquart via Klosters through the Vereina Tunnel. The Chantarella funicular starts at St. Moritz Dorf, and the PostBus stop St. Moritz Bad, Signalbahn is next to the Signal valley station.
Where to base yourself
| St. Moritz Dorf | Chantarella funicular, 1,846 m, in two stages up to the Corviglia mountain station and the Piz Nair cable car |
|---|---|
| St. Moritz Bad | Signal cable car, 1,772 m, beside the operator's office and the PostBus Signalbahn stop |
| Celerina | Celerina to Marguns gondola, 1,753 m, the lowest lift station, with the Provulèr family area beside it |
| Suvretta | Suvretta to Randolins chairlift, 1,939 m, on the western side of the mountain |
-
Piz Nair 10,000 Feet
Summit restaurant at the top of the Corviglia to Piz Nair cable car, with a sun terrace; the operator lists chicken dishes, homemade soups and cakes.7
-
White Marmot
Restaurant and bar at the Corviglia mountain station; the operator markets it as the culinary hotspot of the ski area, with a sun terrace above St. Moritz.85
-
Marguns Restaurants & Bar
Self-service Free Flow restaurant on the slope above the Celerina mountain station, with children's meals and a sun terrace.9
-
Chadafö Marguns
Table-service restaurant at Marguns serving rösti, stone-oven pizza and a Grisons platter; the operator recommends booking in winter.10
-
Glünetta
Wood-and-stone lodge near the Glüna chairlift, serving rösti, raclette and fondue; the operator says the sun terrace fills early.11
What skiers say
-
Take the first Signal cable car at 07:50 and use the first hour for Plateau Nair and Champion before the pistes fill up.1213
Two alpinforum.com trip reports, from January 2014 (27 to 31 December 2013) and February 2022, describe the first hour after opening as the best time to carve on Plateau Nair and Champion. The operator's 2026/27 map lists the first Signal ascent at 07:50; confirm the first ascent for your date.
-
When Marguns becomes busy, move to Salastrains or Randolins and use the single-skier lanes at Plateau Nair and Trais Fluors.131415
Marguns is where the pistes from Corviglia, Piz Nair, Glüna and Val Schlattain meet. A February 2022 alpinforum.com report, a March 2022 alpinforum.com report and a February 2025 alpinfans.com thread (Engadin St. Moritz 2024/25) all describe Marguns as the busiest spot on the mountain while the Salastrains and Randolins side stayed quieter.
-
Check the morning piste-status board for race-training closures on Salastrains and switch immediately to Randolins or the Piz Nair–Glüna side if those slopes are reserved.15
A March 2022 alpinforum.com weekday report (21 March 2022, Corviglia and Corvatsch) found the direct Salastrains pistes closed for race training, which pushed more skiers toward Marguns while Randolins stayed quiet.
-
Do not plan a late-morning start from Celerina on peak weekends or Easter, because its car park and gondola can already be heavily loaded by 08:00–10:30.1617
An alpinfans.com thread from December 2025 (Engadin St. Moritz 2025/26) reports a 15-minute gondola queue at Celerina at 08:00 in high season, and an April 2021 alpinforum.com report describes the car park full and a queue down the approach at Easter.
-
Choose accommodation by your main lift—Celerina for direct access to Marguns, St. Moritz Dorf for the Corviglia funicular, or Bad for Signalbahn—and normally keep each ski day within one area.1819
Two snowHeads threads, 'Asia to St Moritz - Dec 20th 2024 to Jan 2nd 2025' and 'St Moritz 2018', describe the wider St. Moritz area as spread out and recommend Celerina as the most compact Corviglia base, particularly for families carrying equipment.
-
Use the ski-and-boot lockers at the base of the St. Moritz Dorf funicular if your lodging is not lift-adjacent.2018
A 2010 snowHeads thread ('Is St Moritz any good?') suggests storing boots at the lockers by the Dorf funicular station and walking home in shoes. The same station is a bus interchange, so you can reach other valley sectors without a car.
-
During World Cup or major event days, reach Celerina well before 09:00 rather than assuming Signalbahn parking will be available.21
An alpinforum.com thread from February 2017 ('18-19.02 leere Pisten in St Moritz statt Massen in AT') reports Signal parking reserved for accredited users on a championship weekend, traffic diverted toward Champfèr and Celerina about 80% full at 08:55.
-
If driving from northern Switzerland in winter, plan around the Julier Pass or the Vereina car-train instead of trusting a route over the seasonally closed Flüela Pass.2018
A 2010 snowHeads thread ('Is St Moritz any good?') and a later thread on the same site advise routing via the Julier Pass or the Vereina car train in winter, because the Flüela Pass is seasonally closed, and note that parking in St. Moritz is expensive enough that the train is often simpler.
-
Prioritize Champion piste 15 beneath Plateau Nair for fast carving laps while it is freshly groomed.1215
Alpinforum.com reports from January 2014 and March 2022 single out piste 15 below Plateau Nair as a broad carving piste, and describe the upper Plateau Nair section as wide enough to absorb crowds better than the approaches to Marguns.
-
Make one clear-weather circuit from Piz Nair down Grischa piste 16 toward Lej de la Pêsch, then add a lap on Fuorcla Grischa before returning through Schlattain.1222
A January 2014 alpinforum.com report praises the summit scenery on this route. An April 2025 alpinfans.com report (Corviglia and Corvatsch, 5 to 6 April 2025) found the direct section to Lej de la Pêsch scraped and barely worth repeating, while Fuorcla Grischa was excellent.
-
Use the steeper Salastrains and Randolins sector as a crowd escape, especially Paradiso, Muntanella, Swing and the Suvretta descent.1315
Alpinforum.com reports from February and March 2022 say fair-weather skiers avoid this side's steeper gradients, so its lifts and pistes were quieter than the Marguns side.
-
Take red piste 17 Schlattain when you want a scenic, relatively secluded return from the high sector toward Marguns.12
A January 2014 alpinforum.com report describes piste 17 as running through a remote valley with no lift of its own, which makes it a quiet return toward Marguns but a poor choice for quick laps.
-
For the final descent to St. Moritz Bad, use piste 28 via Signal for lake views and the resort's rare wooded ski-road sections.1223
A January 2014 alpinforum.com report and a January 2011 J2Ski review describe piste 28 as having lake views and the wooded ski-road sections that are rare on this mountain. The same alpinforum.com report warns that missing the last useful uphill connection leaves a long walk.
-
Ask each hotel whether it takes part in the Sleep + Ski offer before buying a walk-up ticket or relying on an Ikon Pass.2425
The operator's Sleep + Ski offer is a hotel ski pass at a fixed CHF 55.00 per day for the whole stay. An April 2024 r/skiing thread on St. Moritz joining the Ikon Pass reported about CHF 50 per day at the time, including through the St. Moritz and Pontresina youth hostels; check participation and price before booking.
-
If an accommodation deal is unavailable, buy the Engadin Snow-Deal pass early online because St. Moritz pricing rises with both demand and purchase timing.2625
The Snow-Deal price rises with demand and shorter notice, per the operator's pricing description. An alpinforum.com thread on dynamic pricing (page 8) compares the options and finds the hotel pass can beat an advance Snow-Deal on longer stays, so price both.
-
For a budget ski lunch, buy supplies at Coop Bistro in St. Moritz or Aldi near Samedan airport and use the indoor picnic seating reported at Corviglia station.27
SnowHeads posters in the thread 'St Moritz' found no cheap mountain restaurant and settled on bringing food and adding a soup or a drink. They name Coop Bistro in St. Moritz and the Aldi near Samedan airport for supplies, and indoor picnic seating at the Corviglia station.
-
Choose the Marguns self-service restaurant for a functional warm stop and inspect prices before sitting on the plush terraces at Corviglia, Salastrains or Alpina.2327
A January 2011 J2Ski review and the snowHeads thread 'St Moritz' call Marguns the cheapest and warmest on-mountain stop and single out the Corviglia umbrella bar and premium terrace seating as poor value. Both reports are old, so treat the prices as out of date and the ranking as a warning to check menus first.
-
Do not interpret the advertised 350 kilometres as one connected ski circuit, because Corviglia, Corvatsch and Diavolezza–Lagalb require buses or trains between them.2019
The snowHeads threads 'Is St Moritz any good?' (2010) and 'St Moritz 2018' both advise treating Corviglia as its own two-to-three-day area, because Corviglia, Corvatsch and Diavolezza-Lagalb need a bus or train between them.
-
True beginners should start at the learner area by the Celerina–Marguns gondola and hire an instructor before attempting a resort-wide tour.28
An r/skiing thread from February 2025 ('Staying in Pontresina, where best to ski for beginners?') is divided on difficulty, but several replies found Corviglia's blue pistes steeper than expected and still rate it the easiest of St. Moritz's main mountains.
-
Do not treat the gaps between pistes or a marked ski route as ordinary North American in-bounds terrain without first checking the route status and avalanche implications with patrol.2930
In a February 2026 r/skithealps thread ('Looking for St Moritz advice') one poster said equipment was unnecessary between open pistes, while an August 2025 r/skiing thread ('Help with selecting Europe Ikon destination') had an experienced skier say Corviglia has no designated freeride terrain that removes the need for avalanche kit. Take the cautious reading.
-
Use the Celerina valley run mainly as a final descent rather than a repeat lap, and delay it briefly if the 16:00 exodus is visible.2717
A snowHeads poster in 'St Moritz' found the bottom of the Celerina valley run narrow, steep and icy at busy times, and an April 2021 alpinforum.com report describes an awkward walk around the station and a conveyor to get back to the gondola.
-
On warm spring days, ski Corviglia Run, Swing and the other lower sunny pistes before 10:00, then move upward to Glüna, Lej de la Pêsch and Fuorcla Grischa.3117
Alpinforum.com reports from March 2023 (Engadin St. Moritz 2022/23) and April 2021 describe slush bumps on the lower Corviglia Run shortly after 10:00 and, in a very warm spell, lower terrain becoming unpleasant by 13:00 while the higher pistes held longer.
-
In fog or snowfall, stay low around Signal and the wooded portion of piste 28 rather than committing early to Piz Nair or the open Glüna bowls.122932
A January 2014 alpinforum.com report and a February 2026 r/skithealps thread describe the open mountain as disorienting in flat light, and a March 2017 alpinforum.com report notes Piz Nair can stop when visibility or wind worsens. Corviglia has few tree-lined runs.
-
After a storm closure, consider Corviglia the next clear morning because side-piste snow can remain untracked long after the groomers are busy.33
A February 2025 r/skiing thread ('St Moritz--when you want to exceed your yearly groomer allowance in one week') reports top-to-bottom fresh snow all day after about two feet of snow, because even strong local skiers stayed on the prepared pistes. That is an opportunity only for skiers equipped and trained for avalanche terrain.

Questions
How big is the Corviglia ski area above St. Moritz?
The operator, Engadin St. Moritz Mountains, markets Corviglia as 35 runs and 155 km of pistes served by 24 lifts, with 42 km blue, 79 km red and 34 km black. Our routing graph, built from OpenStreetMap, measures 65.5 km of piste in one connected network between 1,718 m and 3,021 m. The 350 km quoted for the whole Engadin St. Moritz region includes areas that Corviglia does not connect to.134
Is Corviglia connected to Corvatsch and Diavolezza?
No. Corviglia, Corvatsch-Furtschellas and Diavolezza-Lagalb are separate ski areas that share one regional ticket but no piste, and our routing graph finds Corviglia as a single sector. Getting from Corviglia to Corvatsch or Diavolezza means a bus or the Rhaetian Railway.463
How much is a day ticket for Corviglia?
Engadin St. Moritz Mountains publishes no fixed adult day price for 2026/27. Day and multi-day passes are sold through the dynamic Snow-Deal model, with prices that depend on demand and how early you book, advertised on engadin.ch from CHF 55. A hotel ski pass under the Sleep + Ski offer costs a fixed CHF 55.00 per day for the whole stay. All of these cover the Upper Engadin, not only Corviglia.25
Where do you start skiing Corviglia from?
There are three main valley stations: the Chantarella funicular at St. Moritz Dorf (1,846 m), the Signal cable car at St. Moritz Bad (1,772 m) and the Marguns gondola at Celerina (1,753 m). The Suvretta to Randolins chairlift (1,939 m) opens the western side. The Piz Nair cable car at the top, 3,057 m on the operator's map, starts from the Corviglia mountain station.537
Can you ski Corviglia with an Ikon Pass?
Yes. The full Ikon Pass gives 7 days of combined access to St. Moritz's nine ski areas, including Corviglia/Piz Nair, and Ikon Base and Base Plus give 5 days, with no blackout dates, according to the Ikon page for the 2026/27 season. St. Moritz is not on the Ikon Session Pass.3836
Is Corviglia good for beginners?
It is workable but not ideal for a first week. Easy pistes are 42 of the operator's 155 km, and our graph finds 31% of the measured piste reachable on easy pistes only. Beginners use separate learner areas at Salastrains, Provulèr in Celerina and Marguns, each with its own carpet or lift.123
When does the Corviglia ski season start and end?
For 2026/27 the operator's map lists lift operation from 28 November 2026 to 4 April 2027. The Piz Nair cable car starts later, on 19 December 2026, and runs 08:45 to 16:30.5
