Open in SkiAllDayThe verdict
Meiringen-Hasliberg is a mid-sized, mostly intermediate ski area above the Haslital in the Bernese Oberland. Skiresort.com lists 60 km of piste, 34 km of it red, served by 13 lifts between 1,065 and 2,433 m. A cable car from Meiringen and gondolas from Twing and Reuti bring you up. Most pistes face the sun, and snowmaking covers only the main axes.123456789
Goes well for
- Confident intermediates: 34 km of the 60 km is red, and we measure one continuous descent of 9.1 km with 1,375 m of vertical
- Families: a children's area at Bidmi run by the ski school, and a family day ticket on which a child pays CHF 26
- Magic Pass holders: the pass has covered every lift in the area, and the cable car from Meiringen, since 1 May 2025
- Visitors without a car: the Zentralbahn reaches Meiringen from Interlaken and Lucerne, and the cable car starts a 12-minute walk from the station
Goes badly for
- Experts: only 6 km of the 60 km is graded difficult, and a February 2026 trip report found the Glogghüs black piste closed although the piste map showed it open
- Early and late season: snowmaking covers only the Planplatten to Reuti and Käserstatt to Bidmi axes, and we measure just 19% of the piste facing north, northeast or northwest
- Sunny weekends: a January 2026 report counted about 15 minutes at the Reuti gondola and 10 minutes at Hääggen
Key facts
Every card opens. The headline number is the answer; underneath is how it was measured and where it came from.
Elevation 1,368m vertical · 1,065–2,433 m
| Village | 595 m10 |
|---|---|
| Lowest piste | 1,065 m1 |
| Highest lift-served point | 2,433 m2 |
| Vertical drop | 1,368 m |
We found no operator facts-and-figures page giving a base or top elevation. Its own piste map marks the highest point at 2,433 m, the Alpen tower station at 2,250 m, Hochsträss at 2,180 m, Käserstatt at 1,840 m and Mägisalp at 1,710 m. Skiresort.com gives the base as 1,065 m, which matches Reuti at 1,061 m on Wikipedia, and that is where the lowest piste ends. The lowest lift station is the cable car's valley station in Meiringen, a village at 595 m, so the lift-served range is wider than the skiable one: the operator quotes 600 to 2,500 m for the whole area, and our graph's lowest node is at 612 m.
Pistes 60km 49.5 km measured from the network
- Easy 20km 33%
- Intermediate 34km 57%
- Difficult 6km 10%
Marketed vs measuredThe operator says "rund 60 Pistenkilometer" and skiresort.com lists 60 km, split 20 km easy, 34 km intermediate and 6 km difficult, which is the split used here. Schneehoehen.de gives the same total as 20 km blue, 37 km red and 3 km black. The operator does not publish a split. Our measurement of the OpenStreetMap network finds 49.5 km of marked piste, about 17% less than the marketed figure. The whole network is one connected component from 612 to 2,433 m, so the page and the graph describe the same ski area. Marketed lengths usually run along the centre line at the widest marked extent, which is the likely source of the gap.
Lifts 13 4 types in the fleet
- Chairlift 4
- Gondola 4
- T-bar 4
- Aerial tramway 1
The operator's own piste map labels 13 lifts, A to M, and skiresort.com also counts 13. Schneehoehen.de counts 16 and Wikipedia's Meiringen article counts 18, both most likely including practice and children's lifts, which the routing graph shows as three further short drag lifts and platters near Mägisalp. The 13 are the Meiringen to Reuti aerial tramway, four gondolas (Reuti to Bidmi, Bidmi to Mägisalp, Mägisalp to Alpen tower, and Twing to Käserstatt via Lischen), four chairlifts and four T-bars. Our own measurement finds 21% of the climbing, weighted by vertical, is on surface lifts.2

| Multi-resort passes | Magic Pass: the area has been part of the Magic Pass network since 1 May 2025. The pass is valid on all lifts at Hasliberg and on the aerial cableway from Meiringen, for operating hours only, and is sold online only. Family day ticket: the adult ticket stays at 65 francs, and the youth and child tickets fall to 39 and 26 francs, provided the same ticket is bought for at least one adult and one child or youth. Winter season pass 2026/27 (1 November 2026 to 29 March 2027): 530 francs for an adult (16 and over) and 290 francs for a child (6 to 15). The year-round pass is 630 and 300 francs. Evening ticket from 16:00, valid for the Friday night skiing: 23 francs for an adult, 13 francs for a child. |
From the operator's tariff page, in a table headed Wintersaison 2025/2026. The same page already lists season passes for 2026/27, and skiresort.com shows the same 65, 49 and 33 francs for the 2026/27 season, so no 2026/27 day-ticket change was visible on 16 October 2026. Youth is 16 to 20 and child 6 to 16. A morning ticket (until 13:00) or afternoon ticket (from 12:00) costs 54 francs for an adult, 41 for a youth and 27 for a child. An evening ticket from 16:00 costs 23 francs for an adult and 13 for a child.
The mountain
These figures come from measuring the resort's actual piste and lift network rather than from its brochure. Measured from the SkiAllDay routing graph on 16 October 2026. Where the resort publishes a figure of its own, that figure is the one shown.
Piste km per lift km
1.38
Piste km opened by each kilometre of lift line. It measures how sparse the lift network is, not how good it is: a high figure means long runs off few lifts, so more skiing between rides but more traversing and more people funnelled onto each lift; a low one means dense lift service, quick laps and short waits, at the cost of repeating the same runs.
measuredLift minutes per ski hour
88 min
Time riding up for every hour spent descending, from the graph’s own traversal times.
measuredLongest continuous descent
9.1 km
The longest run of linked pistes that never rides a lift.
measuredReachable on easy runs only
37%
Share of piste a skier can reach from the base without ever descending something harder than an easy run.
measuredNorth-facing terrain

Piste facing N, NE or NW, from the bearing of each descent. Shaded aspects hold snow longest.
measuredVertical on that descent

Guide
Three lift hubs feed one connected network on the Hasliberg terrace above Meiringen. Reuti and Mägisalp serve the Planplatten side to the east, Twing serves Käserstatt to the west, and Bidmi in between joins them by chairlift.
Three ways up, one network
The aerial tramway from Meiringen takes 7 minutes to Reuti, and gondolas then climb in two stages through Bidmi to Mägisalp at 1,710 m. A third gondola goes from Mägisalp to the Alpen tower on Planplatten at 2,250 m. On the other side, the Twing to Käserstatt gondola takes 10 minutes, and the Bidmi to Käserstatt chairlift links the two halves. Our own measurement finds all of it in a single connected component of 49.5 km of piste, with no separate sector.23
Mostly red, with three black pistes
Skiresort.com splits the 60 km into 20 km easy, 34 km intermediate and 6 km difficult. On the operator's own map, which numbers 23 pistes, we count eight blue, twelve red and three black: Ringture (10), Glogghüs (11) and Nordpol (17), the last starting at the Alpen tower. We measure a mean gradient of 18%, with only 6% of piste length steeper than 30%.123
Käserstatt and Hochsträss
The 6-seat chairlift from Käserstatt at 1,840 m to Hochsträss at 2,180 m serves red pistes 8 (Hochsträss) and 9 (Fulenberg). A trip report on alpinforum.com from 2 February 2025 quotes a second skier calling both pistes wonderful, and an alpinfans.com poster on 31 January 2026 found them uncrowded in the morning with few queues in the afternoon. Balisalp, reached by its own T-bar from Käserstatt, has two blue pistes that visitors on 2 February 2025 and 13 February 2026 describe as quiet.2412
Planplatten and the race piste
The Alpen tower sits at 2,250 m, at the top of the Planplatten gondola, and pistes 15 to 19 run from it. Piste 16 is marked on the operator's map as the ski race centre. A skier wrote on alpinforum.com on 18 January 2015 that it is practically always closed for races and training, and on 13 February 2026 an alpinfans.com poster found the broad run closed for a race. Pistes 18 and 19 lead down toward Gummenalp and Reuti, and the 2 February 2025 trip report rates them, with black piste 17, among the best.21354
Snow and aspect
The area has no glacier, its highest piste point is 2,433 m and the median piste sits at 1,806 m. We measure 19% of piste facing north, northeast or northwest. The 2 February 2025 trip report says most pistes get sun and snowmaking covers only the axes from Planplatten and Tschuggi through Mägisalp to Reuti, and from Käserstatt to Mägisalp and Bidmi, so some pistes can be closed early and late in the season. An alpinfans.com poster on 18 December 2025 found little snow outside the Alpen tower area.3412
| Skier | Verdict | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Confident intermediate | excellent | 34 km of red on a connected mountain, with fast groomer pistes below Hochsträss and the long descent from Planplatten toward Reuti. We measure the longest continuous descent at 9.1 km and 1,375 m of vertical.134 |
| Magic Pass holder | excellent | The pass covers all lifts and the cable car from Meiringen, so a day here costs nothing extra for holders.8 |
| Second-week skier | good | Skiresort.com counts 20 km of blue piste, and the Balisalp blues are described as quiet on 2 February 2025 and 13 February 2026. The 2 February 2025 report also notes some narrow pistes and sections where you have to push.1412 |
| Family with mixed abilities | good | Skihäsliland Bidmi and the Balis Park are the operator's two family areas. On the family day ticket a child pays CHF 26 and a youth CHF 39 next to an adult at CHF 65, and Mägisalp has its own children's lifts.14715 |
| Night skier | good | Two illuminated pistes, 14 and 23, run from Mägisalp to Reuti on Friday evenings from 1 January to 5 March 2027. The evening ticket is CHF 23 for an adult from 16:00.16 |
| First-timer | fair | The operator runs Skihäsliland Bidmi as a beginner area for children through its ski school. For an adult the open pistes are less forgiving: we measure only 37% of the piste as reachable from the base without leaving easy runs.143 |
| Advanced skier | fair | Only 6 km is graded difficult, split across three black pistes. On 13 February 2026 an alpinfans.com poster found Glogghüs closed although the piste map showed it open and Nordpol still closed, so the steepest terrain is the least dependable.125 |
By car
From Lucerne, drive over the Brünig Pass; from Interlaken, drive via Brienzwiler and the Brünig Pass. The operator names the Brünig route as the year-round access, and the Grimsel and Susten passes as summer-only routes into Meiringen. There are car parks at Twing (Hasliberg Wasserwendi, for the gondola to Käserstatt), at Reuti (for the gondola to Mägisalp and the cable car to Meiringen) and at the Alpbach valley station in Meiringen. Parking at Twing and Reuti costs CHF 7 up to 12 hours and CHF 14 up to 24 hours; at Alpbach it is CHF 1 an hour and CHF 12 up to 24 hours.
By train
Zentralbahn panorama trains reach Meiringen from Interlaken and from Lucerne. The Alpbach valley station of the aerial cableway is about a 12-minute walk from Bahnhof Meiringen, and the operator's map gives the ride to Reuti as 7 minutes. From Brünig, a PostAuto serves the Hasliberg stops at Twing and Reuti.
Where to base yourself
| Meiringen | Valley town at 595 m with the Alpbach valley station of the aerial tramway to Reuti |
|---|---|
| Hasliberg Reuti | Village at 1,061 m; gondola to Bidmi and Mägisalp, and the top station of the Meiringen cable car |
| Hasliberg Twing (Wasserwendi) | Gondola to Käserstatt via Lischen, 10 minutes by the operator's map; the Käserstatt side of the mountain |
-
Panoramarestaurant Alpen tower
The operator lists it first among its mountain restaurants; Wikipedia places it at the Planplatten station at about 2,250 m.1718
-
Bergrestaurant Käserstatt
Listed by the operator at the top of the Twing gondola; an alpinfans.com poster had lunch here on 13 February 2026.1712
-
Bergrestaurant Mägisalp
Serves fondue and raclette with live music on the Friday night skiing evenings, at CHF 32 for an adult and CHF 17 for a child, reservations by phone.1716
What skiers say
-
Reach Twing around 07:45 on busy days and go straight to Käserstatt and Hochsträss; the gondola can start loading before 08:00.419
On Sunday 2 February 2025 a poster on alpinforum.com parked in the Twing garage by 07:45 and boarded at 07:55, with the lift already running 10 to 15 minutes early and no queue. An alpinfans.com poster found the first Hochsträss pistes uncrowded on 31 January 2026.
-
In midwinter, ski Käserstatt and Hohbiel before lunch and Planplatten afterward.13
A skier on alpinforum.com wrote on 18 January 2015 that the slopes around Planplatten only get sun in the afternoon, so he skis them after lunch.
-
Avoid sunny weekends if you can, because queues build at the feeder gondolas and at Hääggen.6
On 31 January 2026, a sunny and busy day, an alpinfans.com poster counted waits of about 15 minutes at Reuti and 10 minutes at Hääggen; the next day they were under 5 minutes almost everywhere except Hääggen.
-
If Hochsträss already has an early queue, lap the quieter Balisalp pistes and come back after about 10:00.12
On 13 February 2026 an alpinfans.com poster met long morning waits at Hochsträss and the 6-seat chair to Käserstatt, which shortened after 10:00, and called the Balisalp blue runs fun and much less crowded. Check that the Balisalp T-bar is running first.
-
Check the race and training programme before planning laps on piste 16 at Planplatten, which is often closed to the public.135
A skier on alpinforum.com wrote on 18 January 2015 that piste 16 is practically always closed for races and training, and on 13 February 2026 an alpinfans.com poster found the broad run at the Alpen tower closed for a race.
-
For a Käserstatt-first day, park at Twing before 08:00 rather than assuming the outdoor spaces will still be free.4
On 2 February 2025 a poster on alpinforum.com was already directed into the parking garage at 07:45.
-
Without a car, go by train to Meiringen and take the aerial cable car to Reuti rather than the PostAuto over Brünig.209
A thread in r/askswitzerland from May 2025 asks whether a bus goes up to Hasliberg. The operator's travel page gives the options: the cable car from the Alpbach valley station, a 12-minute walk from Bahnhof Meiringen, or the PostAuto from Brünig to Twing and Reuti.
-
Ski red pistes 8 and 9 below Hochsträss for fast groomer laps, and return in the afternoon when queues are shorter.412
In the 2 February 2025 report on alpinforum.com a second skier, Joel S., called both pistes wonderful. On 31 January 2026 an alpinfans.com poster found Hochsträss uncrowded in the morning with few queues in the afternoon.
-
When snow is plentiful, link pistes 18 and 19 from Planplatten with the remote piste toward Gummenalp.4
The thread author on alpinforum.com (2 February 2025) called the remote piste toward Gummenalp the highlight with plenty of snow, though crowded and dirty at the edges; Joel S. in the same thread rated pistes 18, 19 and black 17 as top.
-
Take black 17 Nordpol from the Alpen tower when it is open, and check the Glogghüs black before riding up.45
Joel S. rated piste 17 among the best on 2 February 2025. On 13 February 2026 an alpinfans.com poster found Glogghüs closed although the piste map showed it open, and Nordpol still closed; Nordpol had been reported open on 18 December 2025.
-
Use the Balisalp T-bar for two quiet blue pistes, then the steeper direct line from Hohbiel back to Balisalp.412
The 2 February 2025 report on alpinforum.com praised both, and an alpinfans.com poster on 23 December 2025 found fewer people and a firm piste there in the morning.
-
Eat at Balisalp; a Rösti there was recommended in 2015.1312
Will on alpinforum.com (18 January 2015) had a Rösti at Balisalp for 18 francs and called the restaurant recommendable; an alpinfans.com poster named it as a lunch spot on 11 January 2026. Another forum member, vovo, wrote that sitting outside at the top at Hääggen is nicest.
-
If you hold a Magic Pass, use it here instead of buying a local ticket.218
The operator states it covers all lifts at Hasliberg and the aerial cableway from Meiringen.
-
For extra skiing without another full day, use Friday night skiing on illuminated pistes 14 and 23 from Mägisalp to Reuti.1622
It runs from 18:00 to 22:00 on New Year's Eve and every Friday from 1 January to 5 March 2027; the evening ticket from 16:00 costs CHF 23 for an adult and CHF 13 for a child.
-
Do not expect a continuous glide everywhere; the trip report on alpinforum.com lists many Schiebestücke among its cons.4
The 2 February 2025 report rated the area 7 out of 10, praising remote pistes, good snow and the setting, and criticising sections where you have to push and some narrow pistes.
-
Do not ride Glogghüs 2 expecting repeat laps, because from its top station you cannot return to its bottom station.4
The author of the 2 February 2025 report on alpinforum.com calls the layout of the Mägisalp to Hääggen to Glogghüs chain clever and notes that the top of Glogghüs 2 does not lead back to its own bottom station.
-
Do not ride down to Reuti in the middle of a busy day without allowing for the return queue; the Spycher lift goes back toward Mägisalp from the Gummenalp route.4
On 2 February 2025 the thread author on alpinforum.com chose the descent to Reuti over Spycher and waited about 15 minutes for the 8-seat gondola back to Mägisalp, which he said has too little capacity.
-
Do not plan an early or late season visit from the piste map alone; check each lift and piste that morning, especially Gummenalp, Glogghüs and Hohbiel.45
Snowmaking covers mainly the Planplatten and Tschuggi to Reuti axis and the Käserstatt to Mägisalp and Bidmi axis, according to the 2 February 2025 report; Hohbiel and Hääggen were closed in late December 2025 and the Glogghüs black was shown open on the map when it was closed on 13 February 2026.
-
For a child on a first day, start at Skihäsliland Bidmi before the longer pistes.14
The operator describes it as a beginner area for children, run and supervised by the ski school team; a season supporter sticker, the Gönnerkleber, costs CHF 25.
-
After 20 to 30 centimetres of new snow, go directly to Hohbiel as soon as the lift opens, because the terrain beside it is tracked out quickly.13
Will, a snowboarder, wrote on alpinforum.com on 18 January 2015 that after 20 to 30 cm of new snow the terrain was mostly tracked out within about 45 minutes. Respect closures and use normal avalanche precautions outside marked pistes.
-
Treat a closed Gummenalp piste as serious off-piste terrain and not as an unofficial groomer.5
On 13 February 2026 an alpinfans.com poster reported that a lift employee said the Gummenalp descent was feasible with freeride or touring skis but otherwise not recommended. That is not permission to ignore a closure.
-
On a heavy-snow morning, ski the lower pistes first and reassess the upper mountain after lunch.12
On 11 January 2026 an alpinfans.com poster found many upper lifts initially closed after heavy snowfall, with nearly all of them open after lunch and excellent powder; the valley run was closed that day.
